B2B SaaS · Software Discovery for SMEs · The Higher Standard Plan

A guided diagnostic is only useful if it loads.

SoftwareHunt turned a high-touch consulting model into a guided discovery platform for SME buyers in Tier II and Tier III cities. The diagnostic is the product, and it is mostly used on mobile, often by a first-time buyer who is already unsure. A slow screen or a dropped session is the whole conversion, gone.

Objectives

Every session completes. Every recommendation arrives.

SoftwareHunt needed the diagnostic flow to hold up for four buyer archetypes on mobile connections and every completed session to produce a shortlist that actually reached the buyer. The brief was that nothing about the platform adds friction to an audience that was already sceptical and that no completed session goes missing between the last screen and the inbox.

Before NoDrama

The product is a flow. Flows break quietly.

SoftwareHunt's platform was built to mirror how real buyers think: five inputs per screen, questions phrased around symptoms rather than software categories, mobile-first answer formats, and an "I'm not sure" option throughout to reduce dropout. Every one of those decisions was made to lower friction.

Friction comes straight back if the platform is not actively maintained. NoDrama came in, so a slow screen or a broken handoff never undid the design.

The flow was built to carry a skeptical buyer to a decision. NoDrama keeps it able to.

The honest audit

What we found when we looked.

01

No staging environment.

A multi-screen diagnostic taking direct updates. A single conditional logic error mid-flow sends a buyer to a dead end, and a first-time buyer who hits a dead end does not start again.

02

Backup on default hosting plan.

Monthly snapshot, no off-site copy, never tested. For a platform storing diagnostic sessions and recommendation records, an untested restore is not a backup.

03

Six plugins with pending updates, including the form handler.

The form handler carried the diagnostic input capture. Held until the full flow could be checked before and after the update.

04

Recommendation delivery not verified post-launch.

Completed sessions were writing to the database, but the email handoff of the shortlist had a misconfiguration. Some buyers finished the diagnostic and never received the output. Fixed in week two.

05

Mobile performance not baselined.

Most traffic arrives on mobile, much of it on non-metro connections. Load time on the diagnostic screens was running at 4.4s, and no alert was configured.

The work

What we actually did. Specifically.

WEEK 1

Audit and brief.

Full audit across the diagnostic flow, form handling, delivery, mobile performance, security, and backups. Five items are prioritised and documented in plain English.

WEEKS 1–2

Update checks, backup overhaul, and delivery fix.

Set up before-and-after checks. Switched to 12-hour off-site backups with 90-day retention; restore confirmed on day 13. Fixed the recommendation delivery misconfiguration, so every completed session now reaches the buyer.

WEEK 2

Plugin updates and flow regression.

Updated all six pending plugins, including the form handler, then checked the full diagnostic flow across all four persona paths.

WEEK 2

Mobile performance.

Baselined mobile performance. Compressed assets and configured lazy loading across the diagnostic screens. Load time on mobile cut from 4.4s to 2.0s.

MONTH 2 ONWARDS

Weekly cycle and monthly flow tests.

All updates run with 24 key screens photographed before and after. The complete diagnostic flow starts to shortlist delivery, manually tested monthly. Report on the 1st.

The results

4 months in.

9hrs/mo

saved per month.

Hours the SoftwareHunt team spends on late-stage conversions and vendor relationships, not on platform administration.

99.97%

Uptime over 4 months.

The diagnostic is available whenever a buyer starts one.

0

Emergency calls since launch.

Zero is the goal. That is the whole goal.

2.0s

Mobile load time on diagnostic screens.

Was 4.4s. Fixed during onboarding.

Business outcome

What the reliability actually bought them.

The point of productizing the consulting was to decouple growth from headcount, and that only holds if the platform runs unattended. It has. The delivery fix means every buyer who completes a diagnostic now receives the shortlist they asked for, which is the difference between a recorded session and a qualified lead, and the flow has stayed intact through every update since.
